Meet Aurora Rodriguez

    Dec 7, 2023 |

I was born in Rio Grande, Zacatecas, Mexico. I came to this country as an immigrant. It was difficult for me to integrate into a country where I didn’t know its culture, traditions and language. I started attending school and learning English at Polytech UMC in Fort Worth, TX. The church had a Hispanic mission, and I received the invitation to attend. It was rewarding for me to hear my language. I felt at home, and I began to get involved in activities such as Sunday services and Bible studies. I became a member of Good Samaritan Hispanic Methodist Church in November 1996. I received Christ as my Lord and Savior.

God continued His work in my character and transformed my life during that time. The Church gave me the privilege and opportunity to join ministries and committees such as Outreach, SPR, Worship, President of the Board of Trustees, Finance, and Christian Education. With the discernment of the Holy Spirit, I learned about the internal development of each committee.

The Lord illuminated my path and led me to a new personal vision that He implemented deep in me.
I studied disciple training modules and the national plan and lead Bible studies in homes. I can say that it was a gift from God to enter the homes of the community and present a loving God, enriching their souls, knowing Christ as their only Lord and Savior.

God’s purpose changed for The Good Samaritan UMC. Its facilities were relocated by the District and the Conference.

God reminded me of His word, “I have a place for you.” Isaiah 43:19
“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”
God showed me a new community, leading me to a congregation of harmony, generosity, and a spirit of goodness and love for God. I transferred my membership to FUMC Hurst, and now it is my church where God reminded me again of the call to be a pastor, honoring His name and His word.

Once again, I began to join my new family of brothers and sisters in Christ. I am a lay leader in my congregation and participate in some committees such as Group Life and am blessed to be in the Hispanic ministry of Partners in Christ (Compañeros en Cristo).

In addition to Sunday studies, we conduct home studies (cell groups) with the support of our church. This home cell ministry is a formidable teaching system that helps integrate neighbors and community, creating an environment of unity and fellowship, cultivates evangelism and teaching in God’s word, and helps to create leaders for new cell groups. Our cell group is open to you every Friday at 6 p.m.
I’m sure God has a special place for you, too.
