Meet Patrick Kumwami
May 15, 2023 |
I am Patrick Kumwami and I was born in Burundi, a country located in East Africa. I hold a bachelor’s degree in political economy from the University of Burundi. After I graduated, I worked as a logistics assistant for a transportation company. I got married a few months before we moved to the DFW metroplex in December 2010 and we have three sons. In 2014, a member of the church I was attending told me about a training that was going to be organized by Catholic Charities for people interested in interpretation. I attended the training, got certified and started working for the Translation and Interpretation Network (TIN) as a community interpreter. A year later I received a phone call from a TIN scheduler for the opportunity to interpret the service for the French speaking community here at FUMC Hurst.
I am thankful for the connections I made through the church these past eight years, and I am blessed to be a part of this caring community of faith that welcomes people from different backgrounds and origins.
