Let’s Keep the Conversation Going…
“We need to keep this conversation going.” I think that was my favorite comment that I overheard at our kickoff for this summer’s Listening Lab at FUMC Hurst this past Sunday. It highlights so much of what I hoped for in helping to plan this opportunity for connecting.
We need to keep this conversation going - It says that what we have been talking about is valuable to me. It says that this topic matters to me, to my life and the world around me. I think this conversation makes a difference. I am excited about where this conversation might lead us.
We need to keep this conversation going - It says I have enjoyed talking to you, I have enjoyed getting to know you. I feel like we have made a positive connection and I want to get to know you even more.
We need to keep this conversation going - It says I value you and I value your opinion. I want to hear more of what you have to say. I appreciate what I have heard, I appreciate your insight, or I appreciate the ways you are making me think.
For our Listening Lab throughout June and July at FUMC Hurst, individuals are signed up who are willing and eager to share about a topic that is important to them, and you are highly encouraged to come and be in conversation with them. Come and ask questions about nature photography, or books that have changed someone’s life. Come and ask questions about the Holy Spirit or Google Sheets or Astrophysics…
But really, just come and get to know someone you don’t know, or don’t know well. Come and learn what makes a difference in someone else’s life. Come and get a conversation started.
And then, let’s stay open to what we might learn and where our conversations might lead us. Let’s be ready to keep this conversation going.
