Betwixt and Between

Come join us as we walk the final steps to the cross with Jesus and experience together the miracle and joy of Easter.
On Maundy Thursday we remember the last meal Jesus shared with his disciples, and as we gather around the table to break bread together, we remember Christ’s presence with us still. Join us in Fellowship Hall, where we will share a simple supper of soup and bread and serve each other communion.
The service of Tenebrae, meaning “darkness” or “shadows,” has been practiced by the church since medieval times. As we listen to the passion of Jesus presented in the Gospel of John, we will extinguish candles and engage in periods of silent reflection as we immerse ourselves in this powerful story.
Some faith traditions call this day “Silent Saturday” because, as one ancient homily says, “something strange is happening – there is a great silence on earth today, a great silence and stillness. The whole earth keeps silence because the King is asleep in the flesh.” The earth trembled and is still in this space between death and resurrection.
We’re pleased to partner again with Project Transformation Central Texas to offer this worship service. You are invited to join us, as we pay attention to silence and await resurrection.
Worship leaders are Rev. Beth Stuyck and George Miadis. The service will be held in a private home, not far from FUMC Hurst, and a light meal will be served afterward. If you would like to attend, please complete the online registration form, and the location of the service will be emailed to you. Space is limited.
If you plan to attend, please register here, and the location will be emailed to you.
As Easter people, let us come together to celebrate! Christ is risen!
